A Wheelchair Using Teen & Her Dog Star in 'The Wizard of Oz' as Dorothy & Toto

Everybody deserves an opportunity to be the star of the show. Able-bodied folks are presented with these opportunities endlessly, so when a disabled person can take center stage in an "able-bodied" story, you best believe it is worth buzzing about. Especially when that disabled person is a sweet 17-year-old girl, and she gets to star alongside her BFF -- her mobility assistance dog, Gauge.


Gauge scored the role of Toto and Erin Bischoff, a student at Hasbrouck Heights High School, played the role of Dorothy. The teen was born with osteogenesis imperfecta, also known as brittle bone disease, making her a wheelchair-user. However, that didn't stop her from following the yellow brick road and singing her heart out for the school play. Check out her talent here:
