Teen's Yearbook Quote Has a Clever Twist That's Gone Viral (PHOTO)

High school yearbook quotes are typically pretty trite, but this one from California senior Caitlyn Cannon has gone viral for very good reason: It's genius!

Caitlyn, a self-described "really gay feminist" at Oak Hills High School, had wanted to find a quote that meshed with her identity. So she found a quote on Tumblr and tweaked a few parts to make it her own. A friend loved it so much, she tweeted a photo of the quote, below:

Since then, the post has been retweeted over 6,000 times. And I totally get why! For me at least, I feel I've heard about the gender pay gap so much from adult women that I no longer really hear it at all, or care as much as I should. So, to hear it come from a teenager, with such an original spin, is much-needed wake-up call for women of all ages.

I'm also thrilled to see that at least some teen girls still want to be identified as feminists -- a term many young women steer clear from. The reason, I've heard some of them say, is because women are doing better than ever vis-a-vis men, right? Welp, this pay gap shows we've still got a long way to go.

I truly hope that this girl's quote inspires more women of all ages to call themselves feminists -- and fight for equality in terms of pay and otherwise. That way, hopefully one day Caitlyn will look back at this yearbook quote and think, "Wow, how far we've come." Wouldn't that be nice?

What do you think of this yearbook quote?
