Little Girl Is Tired of Male Superheroes: Here's What She Did About It (PHOTO)

letter from young girl to dc comicsWe all know Superman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, and Aquaman, but how many women DC Comics superheroes can you name besides Supergirl, Wonder Woman, and Catwoman? That essentially taps the list. But one young girl has made her demand known and reached out to DC Comics to feature more girl superheroes.

The 11-year-old submitted a heartfelt letter to the comic chain and pointed out -- very clearly -- what it's like to be a girl who loves comics. Take a look at her note:

"Girls read comics too. And they care."

And DC Comics should too.

After family friend David M. Perry tweeted out her story, and it went viral, DC Comics responded:

No word yet on what DC Comics might have in the works to appeal more to their female audience, but the update is definitely hopeful.

And Rowan is making sure that she, and her friends, have some new role models. "I hope that DC (and Marvel too) will make a change," she told The Huffington Post. "I hope that things will be different, I hope that people will see my letter and think, 'Yeah! They really need to change that!' and most of all, I hope that other people will write letters because I am not sure mine will be enough to make the change."

And that's exactly what is needed. Young women need more role models, and not just ones covered in pink and purple, and Rowan is letting everyone know.

Go, girl, go!

Do you agree with what Rowan says?
