Adopted Teen Reunited With Birth Mom Thanks to Twitter Retweets (PHOTO)

girl finds birth mom on twitterWhen Hannah Stouffer turned 19 earlier this month, she got an extra special birthday present that she'll remember for a long time: she reunited with her birth mother!

Stouffer was adopted (through a closed adoption) when she was just a baby. All she knew was her hospital and city of birth and that her mom was 15 years old when she gave birth and probably a ninth-grader. And all she wanted to do was "meet her and thank her." So she took to Twitter:

Within days, the message was retweeted more than 55,000 times, and soon enough, Hannah was finally reunited with her birth mother. The duo met at a coffee shop, and she even got to meet two biological sisters! "I don't feel that empty feeling anymore," she told the Des Moines Register. "I don't feel lost anymore."

She even shared a picture with her birth mom, and look how amazingly happy they look! What a wonderful story!

Stouffer herself is a mom to a 1-year-old baby girl named Gracelynn, so the entire family has been reunited. And she did it all with the support of her parents. They helped her with reaching out via Twitter and even accompanied her to the coffee shop where she first met her birth mom.

Parents like Stouffer's are the most selfless of all. There are so many what-ifs they face when their child wants to meet his or her biological parents. What if the child doesn't find them? Even worse, what if they're disappointed in what they find? Or on the other hand, what if they 'like their birth parents more'? The questions are endless and the fears are absolutely justified.

Nonetheless, to have the support of (adoptive) parents in this search is crucial. They can help provide vital information in identifying and confirming the identity of a birth parent. But most of all, they can be a supportive force for a child that is looking to piece together their history.

Thankfully for Stouffer, it seems like she now has three very important people looking out for her. What kid couldn't use MORE love in her life?

What do you think an adoptive parent's role is in helping their kids find their biological parents?
