Poor School Lunch Programs: Threat to National Security?

I suppose you're wondering what bad cafeteria food could possibly have to do with national security.

Well, what if we're fattening up our kids to the point that they can no longer protect and serve our country?


According to the Associated Press, a group of retired military officers says high-calorie school lunches threaten national security by making many young Americans too fat to fight.

A study conducted by the group finds many kids can't meet the military fitness standards and that 27% of Americans ages 17 to 24 are too overweight to join the military.

This puts an interesting new spin on the school nutrition debate. This time, it's not an adorable British guy trying to evoke school lunch program change -- but some of our very own military's finest.
