There's no way Gossip Girl would have been what it was without Kristen Bell narrating the series, so as soon as we heard about the reboot, we knew that Kristen had to be involved. And now, we finally have an answer. It's official: Kristen is joining the Gossip Girl reboot, and honestly, we couldn't imagine it without her and her sassy voice-overs.

  • Back in July, news broke that a 'Gossip Girl' reboot was officially a go for upcoming streaming service HBO Max.

Since then, details have been trickling in. In fact, over the summer, executive producer Josh Schwartz, who was one of the original producers of the show and will be returning, said the door is open for the cast to return if they choose to -- although the show won't be based on the Upper East Siders fans known and love from before.

  • But now, we finally have confirmation that at least one cast member from the original series will be back.

"Kristen Bell has always been and will always be the voice of Gossip Girl," Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, and Joshua Safran said in a statement to

    We couldn't agree more!

We couldn't imagine anyone else's voice saying, "That's one secret I'll never tell" at the end of the episodes, even when it comes to the reboot.

  • The new 'Gossip Girl' series is supposed to function as a "continuation" of the original.

Yes, we'll get a new batch of Manhattan teenagers to follow, but the concept will be a bit updated for 2020, with HBO Max describing it as addressing "just how much social media -- and the landscape of New York itself -- has changed in the intervening years.”

Being that Gossip Girl ended in 2012, a lot has changed since then -- it'll certainly be interesting to see how the world of the show has changed since then, too.

  • HBO Max debuts in May 2020, but so far, there's no premiere date for 'Gossip Girl.'

But now that the cast is starting to come together, hopefully more updates are on their way.

Regardless of who else does or doesn't return, this show is bound to be a success with Kristen involved. Gossip Girl may be different now, but the voice behind her never will be.
