'Bachelor' Star Peter Weber Suffered a Medical Emergency While Filming in Costa Rica

Peter Weber

Poor Pilot Pete! Multiple sources are reporting that the star of the new season of The Bachelor, Peter Weber, had to have emergency surgery this week, including 22 stitches in his face. The accident apparently happened while he was filming in Costa Rica, and we have to wonder what this is going to mean for his search for love.

  • Radar Online first broke the news that Peter did some major damage to himself.

According to the site, Peter suffered a "serious injury" on Monday, October 7, after "splitting his head open" while playing golf. A source revealed, "He went to step on the [golf] cart but fell and and split his face open on two cocktail glasses he was carrying."

Another source told Us Weekly, that he had to travel two hours to a hospital in San Jose, where he received 22 stitches for his injuries. The insider shared, "The reason he traveled for two hours to a hospital was that this specific hospital had a surgeon that specialized in his injuries. He underwent surgery."

  • Even though cocktail glasses were involved, it doesn't appear that Peter was on a date at the time of the accident.

Another insider confirmed that "he is pulling through," but that "everyone is worried about production. They added, "All the women were flying in for filming today."

It's unclear how extensive his injuries are, but we're pretty sure having 22 stitches on or near your face is going to take a hot minute to recover from. And we honestly can't help but wonder how many of the female contestants will go into Florence Nightingale mode and offer to nurse him back to health.

  • Bachelor Nation first fell in love with Pilot Pete on Hannah Brown's season of 'The Bachelorette.'

He made it to the fantasy suites, where he apparently rocked her world four times in a windmill, but the pair parted ways amicably. He wrote in a lengthy Instagram post after the finale aired, "Thank you Hannah for the opportunity to pursue your heart. You will always have a little bit of mine after the time we were able to spend together."

After he was chosen as The Bachelor, he told Ellen DeGeneres how much he was looking forward to the journey. He shared, "I'm just ready to immerse myself in this journey and hopefully come out with fiancée at the end ... I'm ready to move on and I'm ready to find my girl, and I'm very hopeful this is going to work out."

  • We just hope Peter is OK!

Here's to hoping that his injuries sound worse than they are, and that he is able to recover quickly. But we're sure we'll have to wait until the show airs to find out how everything shakes out. Our DVRs are already set.
