Jade Roper Tolbert Responds to Fans Who Think Her Daughter Is Autistic

Jade Roper, Tanner Tolbert

People can be terrible sometimes. Jade (Roper) Tolbert should be enjoying the final days of being pregnant with her second child, but instead the Bachelor star is spending her time defending her almost 2-year-old daughter Emerson against claims from fans that she's showing signs of autism. Who says that to another mom, anyway? Internet commenters, that's who.

  • Tanner Tolbert's wife shared some screenshots to her Instagram story this week, saying that the comments she was receiving "are NOT okay."

Jade wrote, "You all, these are NOT okay messages to send to people. If you all mean well, it's still not ok to say she has Autism or needs speech therapy or to comment any sort of thing like that to anyone about their child. We are her parents, we have a great pediatrician, and we know her development."

She added, "Comments like this really throw me for a loop."

  • In another screenshot, she called for more "internet etiquette."

Jade wrote, "I'm saying people would never come up to someone in public and say these things. You don’t get to go rogue because you're behind a keyboard." She also said that she shares parts of her life to "bring joy and because they bring me joy," and that Emmy is "not a monkey to dance for you."

  • Jade also wrote that she can't believe other parents would make such rude comments.

Just because Jade has a large following and has chosen to live in the public eye (even her wedding was televised, after meeting Tanner on Bachelor in Paradise), doesn't mean she's fair game for criticism.

We like her general rule for commenting on the internet -- if you wouldn't walk up and say it to someone's face, then don't type it on the keyboard.

  • Can we get a slow clap for this mama lion, speaking up for her daughter in the final days of her pregnancy?

Now we hope she relaxes as much as she can while waiting for baby boy to be born. We hope the next news we hear from her isn't about internet-shamers, but a birth announcement!
