A 'Beverly Hills, 90210' Reboot With the Original Cast Could Be on the Way, but There's a Catch

Us "older" millennials (what are we called now, "xennials"?) have a love-love relationship with nostalgia. We adore our '90s TV shows we simply can't quit (try and take away Friends or Buffy the Vampire Slayer and see what happens) as they got us through the awkward years -- such as middle school, high school, and even college. This is one of the reasons why Hollywood is always trying to reboot something from the '90s, and it appears they've honed in on a familiar zip code. Apparently, a Beverly Hills, 90210 revival could be on the way that will reportedly come with some twists that have people sounding off.

  • It seems the gang from West Beverly is ready to make a comeback 18 years after bidding adieu.

Beverly Hills, 90210, which first aired in 1990, was the show. It blessed us with more than 300 episodes in 10 years that led to two spinoff series: Melrose Place and 90210.

  • Most of the original cast were recently spotted together, reportedly pitching the idea to Amazon, Hulu, and Netflix.

Brian Austin Green, Ian Ziering, Jason Priestly, Jennie Garth, and Tori Spelling were all present and accounted for.

  • And given all this talk about an "untraditional reboot," we have some questions.

Entertainment Weekly reports CBS Television Studios is reportedly working on the reboot, but the actors "are not reprising their original characters." It also appears that the 90210 cast OGs were spotted with writers from the 2008 spinoff series -- so who knows what's going on.

  • For starters, will we see Brenda and Dylan?

Shannen Doherty and Luke Perry were noticeably absent from the picture. And with Luke starring in Riverdale -- and whispers he won't be able to fully commit to the Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot because of it -- they better figure something out.

  • Will the original cast play parents of kids who go to school together?

  • Will the cast from that other 90210 show get thrown into the mix?

Seeing as this "untraditional reboot" reportedly won't have the OGs reprising their original characters, it will be mighty interesting should there be a 90210 crossover as Kelly (Jennie Garth) was on the 90210 spinoff for 20 episodes. Heck, Donna (Tori Spelling) and Brenda (Shannen Doherty) starred in some episodes, too.

  • Will other stars of the show make appearances?

Some outlets are including Gabrielle Carteris (Andrea Zuckerman) into the mix, but what about other peeps -- such as Tiffani Thiessen (Valerie Malone) -- who starred on the show for a number of seasons?

Can we get an update about Nat, The Peach Pit, and how life is with Joan and their son Frankie?

  • Needless to say, the reaction to news Beverly Hills, 90210 is trying to make a comeback has been mixed.

Judging by this reaction, people are here for the idea.

  • Guess time will have to tell how it all unfolds.

They just better do it right.
