There's been more than one instance where we've experienced a bit of déjà vu while watching TV shows. We'll be smack-dab in the middle of a new series -- or a Lifetime and Hallmark movie -- and suddenly think, "Wait a minute ... I know this person from somewhere!" It sends us down a Google-filled spiral, wondering why, exactly, that actor or actress looks so familiar. Was it a '90s TV we watched on a weekly basis? A movie where they had a small but spectacular part? Were they actually mega stars back in their teen years, and now that they're all grown up, have moves on to the parent role? Well, if we're talking about Riverdale, the answer is all of the above.

No, it's not just one actor who's had a long and mighty career before appearing on the show. It's really a whole group of them -- as in, all of the parents, the mayor, the police, and even the guy who runs the local the diner. Practically every major character who isn't a high school student is someone we've seen before, and they range from folks who once played teen heartthrobs themselves (cough-cough, Luke Perry, and Skeet Ulrich, cough-cough), to ones who had recurring roles on different shows here and there -- which is why we recognize their faces and, in a few cases, their voices.

So, mostly to save us the trouble of whipping out our phone mid-scene, we've done the research ahead of the next episode -- rounding up the top credits for 20 castmates and guest stars who saw success before ever stepping foot into that creepy little town. It's true that some of these ladies and gents are more well-known than the others, but it's still pretty crazy to see that long list of throwback stars who have appeared on the show. We're crossing our fingers and hoping it doesn't stop here!

  • Skeet Ulrich

Chris Hooker from The Craft! Billy Loomis from Scream! Skeet was a pretty big deal in the '90s and now plays Southside Serpent FP Jones.

  • Molly Ringwald

We don't have time to rattle off the list of all the John Hughes movies this '80s icon was in. (Some may also know Molly as Anne Juergens from The Secret Life of the American Teenager.) Now, she pops up every so often as Mary Andrews, Fred's wife and Archie's mom.

  • Luke Perry

To '90s kids and fans of Beverly Hills, 90210, Fred Andrews will always be Dylan McKay.

  • Mark Consuelos

Mark was on the soap opera All My Children for years, and that's even how he met his talk show host wife, Kelly Ripa. Now he's the guy who we love to hate: Hiram Lodge.

  • Cole Sprouse

Cole might be 26, but the Jughead actor has been in the biz since childhood -- usually appearing alongside his twin brother, Dylan. The two played Julian in Big Daddy, Ben on Friends, and famously starred in their own Disney show, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody (later, The Suite Life on Deck).

  • Madchen Amick

The actress has had roles on ER, Gossip Girl, Damages, and Witches of East End, but is best known as Shelly Johnson from Twin Peaks (both the original and the reboot). These days, she's Betty Cooper's mom, Alice.

  • Tony Todd

Tony Todd just has one of those faces people never forget. So when we saw him as Farmer McGinty, we knew he was from Candyman: Farewell to the FleshStar Trek: The Next Generation, and in Night of the Living Dead. He also had a recurring role in Final Destination, too, and recently made an appearance in the horror flick Hell Fest.

  • Marisol Nichols

There are plenty of places we've seen Hermione Lodge before -- including small roles in Scream 2, Friends, and Boy Meets World. Her bigger credits include 24 and GBC, and fans of the TV movie The Princess and the Barrio Boy may also know her as the lead in that.

  • Gina Gershon

Gina is a Riverdale newbie taking on the role of Gladys Jones. But the reason she looks so familiar? Parts in movies like Cocktail, Showgirls, and Face/Off, as well as the HBO show, How to Make It in America.

  • Robin Givens

Robin was famously married to the boxer Mike Tyson in the late '80s, and long before she was Mayor Sierra McCoy, she appeared on sitcoms like Head of the Class, Sparks, and The Game. She also starred alongside Eddie Murphy in the film Boomerang.

  • Martin Cummins

Those who can't quite place Sheriff Keller might need some reminding that he played Ames White on the show Dark Angel with Jessica Alba. He also kicked off his career in Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan.

  • Peter Bryant

Dark Angel fans will also recognized Principal Waldo Weatherbee, who was Bling on the show.

  • Alvin Sanders

Alvin may be the man behind the Pop's Diner counter, Pop Tate, but he's also the voice behind a ton of cartoon characters, too. Some of his credits include GI Joe and Dragonball Z, and he's popped up IRL on Smallville and The X-Files.

  • Graham Greene

Not everyone will realize that Thomas Topaz, Toni's grandfather, is actually the same guy who received an Academy Award nomination for Dances with Wolves in the early '90s. He also played Detective Joe Lambert in Die Hard With a Vengeance. Our favorite credit of the actor's, however, has to be the PBS show Dudley the Dragon, where he was Mr. Crabby Tree.

  • M.C. Gainey

The Con Air and Lost actor appeared for an episode as Papa Poutine.

  • Scott McNeil

Scott's mostly a voice actor, which is why his face doesn't immediately stick out to us. But we've definitely heard him a ton of times on shows like Dragon Ball Z, Dragon TalesTransformers, and more.

  • Lochlyn Munro

White ChicksA Night at the Roxbury, the original Charmed. This actor is far from *just* Hal Cooper (and Hal Cooper's alter ego).

  • Brit Morgan

A few short years ago, Penny Peabody was known as Debbie Pelt on HBO's True Blood.

  • Barclay Hope

Barclay has so many small credits under his belt, that it's hard to pinpoint just one show viewers may know him from. He's had recurring parts on The L Word, Smallville, The Killing, and Supernatural, ahead of playing both Cliff and Claudius Blossom.

  • Andy Cohen

OK, so Andy isn't exactly a throwback, but he has been on TV for more than a decade now -- and once played a shoe salesman on Sex and the City. He ended up playing himself this time around, briefly popping up in season two.
