20 Reasons We Can't Wait to Binge-Watch 'The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina'

There's no denying the fact that TV is pretty darn good right now -- maybe even better than movies. With streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime (among others, of course), we can tune in to our favorite shows whenever we have a moment to spare, and potentially watch a full season in a single sitting (the key word here is potentially). So when something new starts to make headlines and flood our Instagram feeds, we get all kinds of curious. Will this be our next binge-watch? Will its stars be the new names we need to know? There's a good chance the answer to both of those questions is yes -- especially when it comes to the new, spooky series, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which premieres on Netflix on October 26.

So far, the show looks pretty promising and seems like the perfect thing to watch in the days leading up to the 31st -- aka, Halloween. By now, we've gotten the fact that it revolves around a character we know and love, the iconic Sabrina the Teenage Witch! But, at the same time, it isn't a sad, strange copy of the original series (something we've seen happen and fail miserably many times before).

Nope.

This Sabrina is far more intense. Instead of a being a simple, lighthearted high school comedy, every episode looks like something that will have us on the edge of our seats, wondering what messed up thing -- or drama-filled scene -- will occur next.

So, without further ado, we're listing out all the reason why we'll be settling on the couch with a snack and pressing play on The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Aside from just wanting to give it a chance, there are a few familiar faces we'd like to see, completely new characters, inclusivity (yay!), and (what looks to be) some crazy story lines.

The Hype Is Real

We've been hearing about this show for months, and we'd be lying to say we haven't grown curious from all of those trailers, as well as the rave reviews.

Please excuse us, we're just in shock that Kiernan is no longer little Sally Draper from Mad Men. She's all grown up! And we're so ready to see her in this new role!

It's Nothing Like the Original

Of course, this show is nothing like the quirky comedy that comes complete with a laugh track. It's more cult-y and dark and seems to be a fresh, new story. Forget spells that turn people into nerds or make them burp.

Something tells us this teen doesn't have time for that.

It Looks SUPER Creepy

We're getting some satanic rituals vibes, and all of the show's promos make it seem like being a witch isn't as light, fun, or easy as the OG Sabrina made it appear.

And ya wanna know something?

We're kinda into that more.

There's a Monster This Time Around

Err, we don't remember a horned evil creature! What's happening?!

In other words, it'll probably be really, really good, and suspenseful.

Millennials everywhere will be obsessed.

Kiernan is already sold on the idea of the two shows coming together somehow. "As far as the universes being shared, Riverdale is technically the town over and it's not something that's touched on a ton in the show -- but it is referenced a few times in little comments," the new Sabrina told Digital Spy.

For those of us who've started watching season three of Riverdale, we can see how an overlap can happen (and it's possible it'll come sooner, rather than later).

We've clearly got Sabrina, but we'll also see Aunt Hilda, Aunt Zelda, Salem, and Harvey Kinkle on the show.

Yay!

'The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' Follows Comics

Critics who call The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina an unwanted reboot of the '90s hit TV show, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, can rest easy: This series is based off an Archie comic (it's still pretty popular), not the series Melissa Joan Hart made famous.

And we could always use more of that on TV!

We're Curious About Those Sisters

Otherwise known as "The Weird Sisters." It looks like they'll play a big part on the show, and they don't seem to be that friendly...?

And, apparently, they aren't crazy about Sabrina since she's half-mortal.

One example is Lachlan Watson, a non-binary actor who plays one of Sabrina's best friends, Susie, and uses the pronouns he, him, they, and them in everyday life. Now, even more, people -- including teens! -- can see someone similar to themselves on a show, and that's definitely something to be excited about.

Of course, there's Harvey, but then there's Nicholas Scratch, who's from the magic world and goes to school with Sabrina.

Sounds like drama waiting to happen!

The show explores a number of themes, including female empowerment and gender identity. Sabrina's disruption of the patriarchy will likely strike a cord with viewers.

We Need More Witches in Our Lives

It's been a while since we've seen a (not-too-scary) show that revolved around witches, and we could use a little something new to break up our Halloween rotation of Hocus Pocus, Practical Magic, and The Craft.

Apparently, there are sneaky tributes to other spooky shows and films around the set, which is always fun to look for as we watch!

The Costumes on the Show Are Total Throwbacks

Just like with Riverdale, there's a mix of modern clothes and real-life interpretation of what was worn in the comics (which were based in the 1960s) -- and we can't tell what year it actually is!

We Can Watch the Whole Season at Once

We don't have to wait until next week to see what happens! We can just continue on to the next episode (until, of course, life gets in the way).

... which means that Netflix is pretty confident we'll love it, and also that it isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

The cast is full of a ton of new faces. And we can only assume that after this, these kids will go on to score some other major roles, star in photo shoots, and gain millions of Instagram followers.
