Maci Bookout Opens Up About Ryan Edwards's Drug Addiction

Maci Bookout

We've been hearing rumors for a while that Maci Bookout doesn't believe that her ex Ryan Edwards has really gotten clean since going to rehab nearly a year ago for heroin addiction. In a sneak peek for a new episode of Teen Mom OG, the reality star finally admits her thoughts on it to her mom.

  • Maci opened the conversation with her mom, Sharon, by asking if she'd heard that Ryan and Mackenzie were expecting a baby.

"So did you hear that Ryan and Mackenzie are pregnant?" Maci asked her mom as they ordered lunch together. Sharon responded incredulously, "Uh, I'm sorry, what? I thought Ryan wasn’t about that life right now." She added, "Maybe a new baby is what Ryan needs."

"Maybe, maybe not," replied the mom of three, who shares 9-year-old Bentley with Ryan (she's also mom to Jayde, 2, and Maverick, 1, whom she shares with husband Taylor McKinney). "I mean, I feel like if this don't do the trick, then absolutely nothing will."

Sharon asked if Ry had yet to pass a drug test since completing rehab last spring, and Maci replied in the negative. She added, "My people know people. I mean, he's not clean. He's not. That's just it. He's not."

  • Ry eloped with girlfriend Mackenzie Standifer before entering rehab last May, and they had a real wedding in November.

A couple of weeks ago, it was revealed on the show that they're expecting a baby together. The news came the same week that Ry was arrested again for drug-related charges, and was allegedly caught sneaking around on Tinder. Mackenzie later insisted that Ry's arrest had to do with earlier charges, and that he's really clean now, but she did not address the cheating scandal.

  • Maci and her hubs Taylor McKinney were recently granted orders of protection against Ryan, and Maci told her mama that she believes he's still using.

The conversation with her mom was filmed before a judge granted the temporary restraining orders last week, but it's easy to see why Maci felt she needed the court intervention. According to Radar Online, she alleged in the court docs that her ex showed up under the influence of heroin at one of Bentley's baseball games last May, and "got in my face, yelling and threatening to hurt me." She added, "His behavior and actions are getting worse ... I am fearful for my three children and myself, and what he may do, based on his threats."

Taylor reportedly said in his filing, "He called me on Tuesday, March 20th, 2018 and threatened to show up at my house and put a bullet in my head ... The police were called and they suggested to seek an order of protection." He also pointed out Ryan's "history of drug abuse," and his threat that "he would show up at our son's baseball game and confront us, my wife and I."

  • We really hope that Ryan gets his act together -- and soon.

He's hurt so many people in his life over his drug addiction, and his kids especially deserve better. Not only does he have Bentley and the new little one on the way, he's also stepdad to Mackenzie's 3-year-old son Hudson. Those kids deserve a real dad, and Ry's never going to be able to be there for him if he can't kick his addiction.
