Well, it's a step in the right direction at least. Earlier on this week, Jenelle Evans faced her mom Barbara in court over custody of Jace. Barbara, who's had custody of Jenelle's son since he was born, doesn't want to relinquish any control of her grandson, but Jenelle, who's cleaned up her act quite a bit recently, wants her oldest son back. The result? Jenelle can now see Jace more often, but she still doesn't have custody. Talk about bittersweet.

While she didn't get primary custody of her 7-year-old son, there are new positive stipulations to their agreement. Barbara still has primary custody of Jace, but unlike before, Jenelle and Barbara now have a visitation schedule in place. Speaking to E! News, the Teen Mom 2 star said that a judge granted her Jace on weekends, holidays, and during the summer season. Not what she was going for, but definitely a vast improvement.

"I'm not restricted to when my mom says I can have my son anymore," Jenelle said, "and at the moment that's all I care about. [I] just want to spend time with my son. He will be home one day but today wasn't the day, sadly." The mom of three also added that she "burst out into tears in the conference room" when she learned of the judge's decision.

Despite the fact that Barbara still has primary custody of Jace, she was still issued a warning. Jenelle told E! that the judge told her mother, "Barbara, you need to start thinking about the child and not yourself in the future." Word. Jenelle's no angel, but Barbara takes things to a new level.

The day may not have gone as she planned, but Jenelle still has hope for the future. "I will go back maybe in a year, but I want the judge to see this new order has been in effect and I've been complying with it no problems," she said.

As for her relationship with her mom, though? That remains the same. Jenelle hasn't talked or even "looked at" her mother and has no plans on doing so in the future. Some things never change.
