Jenelle Evans Opens Up About the Reality of Her Custody Situation

If it feels like Jenelle Evans has been involved in a custody battle for years, that's because she has been. She's been trying to win back legal custody of her eldest son Jace from her mom Barbara for a long time now, and in a recent interview, she got totally real about what it's like to share her son with her mom.

The mom of three (she also has Kaiser with ex Nathan Griffith, and baby Ensley with fiancé David Eason), opened up to E! News this week about how she's managing motherhood, and especially her relationship with her mom Barbara Evans.

After appearing on Sixteen and Pregnant, Jenelle signed over custody of Jace to Babs, because she was more concerned with partying and doing drugs than being a mom. Now that she's spent several years turning her life around and becoming a stable human being, she want the 7-year-old back, but Babs still has her reservations.

Anyway, Jenelle said that having three kids is "pretty hectic," despite getting so much help from David. "Life is pretty complicated at the moment, but I love it and wouldn't trade my role as 'mom,'" she confessed.

As much as she loves being mom to the three she has, she also admitted that she's done having kids. She explained, "David and I talked about it one day recently and how complicated things can get with Kaiser and Ensley together. They remind us why we are done."

Jenelle also opened up about how her custody situation affects the sibling bond between Jace, Kaiser, and Ensley. "I make sure that I get Jace every weekend and have Kaiser every other weekend," she said. "During that time, [Jace] is constantly around all the kids and family until he goes back to my mom's on Sunday nights. I have also been trying to take family photos lately of everyone together. I don't want anyone to feel excluded from our family."

She also seems to have a surprisingly mature attitude these days about the contentious feelings between herself and her mom over their custody battle. "Jace doesn't have a 'side.' He loves me and my mother equally and that will never change," she explained. "I'm ok with that, too. I tell Jace and explain that me and my mom try to get along, but sometimes it just doesn't work out. I don't argue or even raise my voice in front of him anymore. If she makes me frustrated, I'll simply hang up --no need for all of that extra stress."

We can hardly believe she's the same girl who once insisted that she couldn't go to jail after being arrested because she had tickets to a Kesha concert, but hey. Even teen moms grow up. We're proud of Jenelle for how far she's come, and hope only good things for her future.
