A member of Bachelor Nation just took a huge step in preventative health -- by undergoing a double mastectomy. Lesley Murphy decided on the drastic surgery after testing positive for the BRCA2 gene, which puts her at a higher risk of developing breast cancer.

Lesley -- who vied for Sean Lowe's affection on his season of The Bachelor -- shared last month that she would be undergoing the procedure. Her mom is a breast cancer survivor, so this was obviously something near and dear to her heart.

The 29-year-old shared a post-op picture from her hospital bed this week, writing, "My mom took this photo when I first arrived to my hospital room after surgery. It was hard to breathe. My chest was super tight and still is. There are so many tubes hooked up to me and lots of beeping noises. My boobs are gone. Crazy, right? Gone. It's hard to wrap my head around."

The former Bachelor contestant continued, "I finally caught a glimpse of my bare chest during a FaceTime call a couple of minutes ago. Whoa. It looks like I was in a bear fight and lost. Badly. The human body is truly amazing, though, and I will heal soon enough."

Murphy also took the opportunity to gush about the staff and amazing care at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Hospital in Little Rock. She called them "top-notch," and said that she was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from her friends and family as well.

It couldn't have been an easy decision to have her breast tissue totally removed, but it was a brave one. We wish her a speedy recovery!
