My name is Maci, but the ones closest to me call me "Momma." I have been a self-proclaimed writer since I was a teenager. So when CafeMom approached me about writing blog posts for them, I was pumped! Well, initially. After a couple of days, the excitement started to settle down, and the doubts started to sink in.

I started second-guessing myself, as thoughts like this went through my head.

"You don't have time for this."

"You're writing book #2 -- you can't write blogs right now."

"You have too much on your plate already. This can, and should, wait."

The list went on and on ... and on.

A few weeks passed, and while half of me was hoping the offer would fall apart, the other half of me was praying for a few hours alone, just so I could have some time to write. With everything I have going on, I need an outlet and a means of expressing myself.

So here I am. Overloaded. Stressed. You know how it goes: Work, kids, work, kids ... You know, that little thing called life? And that's when it hit me. What better time to start writing a new blog?

So here it goes.

Let's break the ice. I had my first son when I was 17 years old. Like all first-time moms, I had no idea what I was doing. So I just did my best. And now eight years later, I am happily married and a mom of three, with two little ones under two, and to be honest, I still have no idea what I am doing. So I just give it my all and take things day by day.

Life hasn't slowed down since, well, ever. I have a second grader that plays a sport for every season, and two babies that are literally only one year and two days apart in age. We are one unicycle short from being a circus act!

But that's life, and I know I'm not the only mom who is living it and loving it ... most of the time.

In a world full of mom shaming and mom expectations that are simply flat-out impossible, let's just take pride in being ourselves! None of us is perfect, and all of us could use less judgment and more appreciation in our lives. I hope that what I share through these blog posts will show us that we aren't alone in our experiences, and will help us feel more like the badass women that we are.

I'm so thrilled to be a part of the CafeMom family!
