Truth be told, Bachelors and Bachelorettes have a tough job in terms of publicizing the show during their respective seasons. They have to be intriguing enough to keep us interested, but vague enough to keep us guessing.

So when CafeMom caught up with Nick Viall at ABC's All-Star Party during the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour in Pasadena, California, we weren't quite sure what to expect. The end result? A particularly cryptic interview.

Naturally Nick wasn't going to spill spoilers, but some of his answers have us worried that he didn't find his happily ever after ... again. While we're currently cheering for Vanessa Grimaldi from our couches, Nick's made one thing very clear -- he wasn't afraid to end the show without a fiancé.

Read on to decide for yourself.

Was going back as the Bachelor and doing all of the choosing everything you thought it would be?
Yeah, kind of. My friends Ben Higgins and Chris Soules prepared me. It certainly is intense and difficult, but I don't know if I was thrown too many surprises.

But what did catch you off guard? There's always unexpected drama that we, as the audience, didn't see coming.
Liz showing up was a big surprise right off the bat. Other than that, I kind of knew I was going to be emotional at times. I knew there were going to be highs and lows. That all happened.

How did you mentally prepare going into the show again?
I just accepted the fact that it was going to be difficult, and that when it was I knew that that was okay. And to stay the course, as cliché as it sounds. It's important to know what you're getting yourself into and not freak out when things aren't going your way.

The producers must know your personality pretty well at this point. Did this help you put faith in them in terms of who they would choose for you?
Yeah, I was really hopeful that they knew me pretty well and that would certainly help pick the right women.

Did you feel like they were successful in that?
You have to watch and find out.

C'mon, give us something.
I think any guy would be lucky to have 30 women show up to get to know them. I felt very lucky.

Ben and Lauren did their own reality show for Freeform after their season ended; would you consider something like that as well?
If I was lucky enough to be with [someone], I think that would be a decision as a couple we'd have to make. So that's really hard to say.

Who was you biggest confidante?
My heart. I think that's a decision you have to go on your own.

How important were private conversations with Chris Harrison about what was going on?
I had plenty of heart-to-hearts with Chris, but towards the end I think he knew to let me make my own decision and it was the right one.

What was the best advice you received from one of your Bachelor friends?
Don't be afraid to walk away alone.

What was the worst advice?
I always get great advice.
