'16 & Pregnant' Star Dead at 23


Unbelievably sad news coming today. Sixteen and Pregnant star Valerie Fairman is dead at just 23 years old. The cause of death is unknown, but the reality star's long-time history with substance abuse was documented on the MTV reality show.


According to the Chester County Coroner's office, the cause of death is under investigation, and toxicology tests will be conducted. Fairman is survived by her 7-year-old daughter, Nevaeh Lynn Fairman.

Fellow stars from the Teen Mom franchise turned to social media after hearing the news to express their sympathies to the family.

Chelsea Houska tweeted, "How incredibly sad. My heart goes out to her daughter and family," and Jenelle Evans wrote, "Oh my god. I just spoke to her a couple months ago and told her I'm proud of her and looks like she's doing good ... Don't take life for granted. Hold your children and love them close."

An MTV spokesperson said in a statement, "We are saddened by the news of Valerie Fairman's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time."

TMZ reports that Fairman has had more than her share of trouble with the law over the years, including being arrested on charges of prostitution. Just last week, she attempted to run from the cops, and was "busted for resisting arrest and providing false ID to law enforcement."

Our hearts go out to Valerie's family. No matter what choices she made in her life, she didn't deserve to have her life cut short.
