New Pics of Daenerys & Jon Snow on 'Game of Thrones' Bring Our Fan Fiction to Life

Daenarys from Game of Thrones

While we're anxiously awaiting any bit of news about Game of Thrones, the cast is busy shooting in preparation to give us (the fans) what we want. And this time they might have gotten it more than right, as two of our favorite characters were spotted together on the set in Spain -- Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington). (Warning: Spoilers ahead if you're not all caught up with the show!)

While this could mean either war or an alliance, any real fan knows that this is a first, and a big one at that -- well, given the chain of events that unfurled in the last season. It was ultimately revealed that Jon was not a Snow (the last name bastard children go by), but a Targaryen -- meaning that there's a good chance Daenerys is his aunt.

Emilia Clarke and Kit Harrington

For a lot of fans, this revelation is somewhat disappointing because we imagined a day where the two would become an item, creating only the most powerful union that we've yet to see -- you know ... fire and ice.

But now we have a new sense of disappointment, because we're all far too aware of the fact that family ties won't stop the romantic plots when it comes to this show and the characters' fight for the throne. That's especially true for House Targaryen, which has a long history of keeping it in the family (Dany's mere existence is proof of that). So, yeah, these two powerhouse relatives could still be potentially shipped. Ew, gross, no.

It will be interesting to see in what way this pair interacts and how far they take their collaboration in the next season. It could make or break the dreams of many fans, as we'd probably be a little weirded out should the two decide to ignore their relationship and make the ultimate power play -- marrying each other to take the throne as one.

I think we get enough of our incestuous fix from Cersei and Jaime Lannister -- and I could be wrong, as I've been before when it comes to the ruthless plot that is Game of Thrones.

But I'm certainly willing to take bets on whether or not these two embrace their Targaryen heritage.
