Our Fave Girl Boss Is Returning to 'Game of Thrones,' Proving That Kids Are Kickass

Game of Thrones cast

The latest season of Game of Thrones has come and gone -- just like that. We're stuck in the off season, which is also known as the time of year we obsessively watch reruns and scribble fan theories in our journals like mad women, waiting to be fed bits and pieces of information about the upcoming season like animals hunting for a meal. And GoT peeps: We've just been given a theatrical treat with news that our favorite girl boss, Lyanna Mormont, is almost definitely returning for the next season.

According to the Huffington Post, this was confirmed when 12-year-old actress Bella Ramsey was photographed in full costume, suited up and ready to shoot -- just after GoT costars Kit Harington, Gwendoline Christie, and Liam Cunningham were also photographed.

Mormont (who is most definitely a distant relative of Jorah) was introduced to us in season five when she took the reigns for her people and made moves that involved her standing by House Stark in the impending battle against ultimate terror, Ramsay Bolton.

Lyanna is smart, sassy, and strategic, and she makes absolutely no apologies for it. She rules in the genuine but cutthroat manner that best serves her people. Still, we've seen this from other leading ladies in the show -- so what is it about Lyanna that truly stands out? Her youth, of course!

If you know the story, you're aware that quite a few of the people fighting for the throne are younger than their life's experiences would have you believe. But Lyanna stands out for being one of the youngest to actually have a seat at the table -- especially now that Tommen is (SPOILER ALERT) dead.

With Lyanna and the others, we're grabbed by their innocence and then their maturity all at once -- especially once we stop being totally infatuated by their ability (or sometimes inability) to lead.

The kids (literally) in the show are anywhere from 10 to 19, so the mere thought that they deliver demands to people twice their age is mind-blowing. When I was that age, you could find me twiddling my thumbs, simply trying to figure out my personal well-being. There was absolutely no way in hell you'd find me making life-changing decisions for a small village, let alone a kingdom.

Sure, you could argue that this just a fictional show, but it's still impressive that they're writing kids who are this smart and powerful.

Needless to say, I can't help but commend them (especially Lyanna) for being so confident in their natural ability to lead.

So with that said, the return of Lyanna Mormont is epic! Anyone else would have some big shoes to fill in the wake of that small but mighty child.

But, until the time comes, we'll be sitting on the edge of our seats, perfecting our grimace until we can get one as good as Lyanna's. Because really and truly she (along with a few others) is goals AF.
