'16 & Pregnant' Star Calls Out 'Teen Mom' for Painting a Fake Picture of Reality

Reality shows don't always do the best job at depicting, well, reality, but we always thought Teen Mom did okay at showing how difficult it is to have kids at a young age ... or does it? Former 16 & Pregnant star Nikkole Paulun called out MTV for how unealistic their shows are, and she actually has a point.

In a Facebook rant over the weekend, Nikkole went off about the way the moms of Teen Mom live, claiming that because of the TV show and the money and privileges that affords them, they don't face the same struggles that everyday teen parents have to deal with. And really, she's right -- most young parents aren't pulling in huge salaries like these girls do.

Her post is lengthy, but it's worth a read, especially you agree that MTV doesn't show the reality of the situation well. And really, how could it? The girls should be paid for the time and energy they spend filming the show, because it is work. But then that paycheck translates to an extraordinary lifestyle for many people in their position.

In case you want to know what it's really like to be a teen mom, it seems like Nikkole is offering a solution. According to a follow-up post on her wall, she's thinking about recording her own daily life to show what she goes through. That would be interesting!

Don't get us wrong -- we love our teen moms! And even if the show isn't realistic, it has given them the chance to offer their kids a better life than they might have had otherwise. And isn't that what's most important here?
