It's Official: A 'Gossip Girl' Reboot Is Happening
Spotted: A popular teen drama from the '00s making a comeback. Earlier this year, we hinted that a Gossip Girl reboot could be coming down the pipeline, and after several months of radio silence, it looks like it's actually happening. That's right, Upper East-siders, Gossip Girl is officially coming back, and it looks like the delegation has spoken:
We aren't here for it.
The hit CW drama got the thumbs up to come back to our screens with fresh episodes.
Gossip Girl starred Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford, and a long list of others who've gone on to new projects -- including guest stars like Hilary Duff, Krysten Ritter, and Tika Sumpter. The series ran from 2007 to 2012 and followed a group of wealthy high school kids who navigated life, relationships, and the social scene with an unknown gossip blogger essentially following their every move.
Well ... fans of the original Gossip Girl are throwing in their two cents, and it's safe to say most aren't interested.
Folks are starting to flood EW's Instagram post about the Gossip Girl reboot, and it looks like there's a lot more questions than excitement. For starters, the show didn't end that long ago, so ideas of a reboot seem premature. Others don't like the idea of anyone messing with something that worked.
If it ain't broke, why try to fix it?
At least we can still watch the original on Netflix.
... for now.
(With Friends and The Office leaving, it's only a matter of time before our favorite shows leave for good.)
If we're being honest, we are not fans of rebooting this show. With Penn working on You, Blake off doing her own thing, and everyone else moving on, we doubt many (if any) of the originals will return. With that said, we are kinda interested to see how this all comes together.
