13-Year-Old Maddie Ziegler Lands Our Dream Job on 'So You Think You Can Dance'

Get excited, because a new season of So You Think You Can Dance is right around the corner! This year, they're switching up the format for The Next Generation and have added the youngest judge yet to the panel. Thirteen-year-old Maddie Ziegler has been confirmed as a judge for the show, where she will critique and score dancers between the ages of 8 and 13.

Ziegler starred in six seasons of Dance Moms and has appeared in multiple Sia music videos, including "Chandelier" and "Elastic Heart." She's also had roles in shows like Austin and Ally and Pretty Little Liars. Did I mention that she's 13 years old? This kid is seriously accomplished.

And now she has our dream job. Not only will she get to watch all of the amazing dancers that are sure to come out of this season, but she gets to interact with returning judges Nigel Lythgoe, Paula Abdul, and Jason Derulo -- and of course, host Cat Deely, who is basically flawless.

I think this is a seriously cool move for SYTYCD, since they're featuring younger dancers this season. Maddie has been competitively dancing for most of her life, and she'll be able to relate to the kids and offer insight in a way that the other judges just can't.

Even though Ziegler has achieved her own fame at this point, I bet it's still going to be a trip for her, because each of the contestants is going to be paired with a returning All Star from a previous season. They haven't been announced yet, but it's a good bet that she's been watching some of them since toddlerhood. The show's been on since she was 2 years old, after all!
