Jade Roper Makes a Painful Admission About Her Past

Lady Gaga may not have taken home an Oscar for the song "Til It Happens to You," but it appears she did something even more powerful -- encouraging a lot of sexual assault victims to step forward and tell their story. After being moved by the Academy Awards performance, Bachelor star Jade Roper revealed she was raped as a teenager.

Jade, who recently married fellow Bachelor in Paradise alum Tanner Tolbert in a lavish televised wedding, took to her blog to share her story, one that unfortunately way too many women can relate to.

The 29-year-old says she was raped just shy of her seventeenth birthday, assaulted by two male friends in the basement of one of their parents' homes. The blog post is a painful read as Jade describes the aftermath of the rape and how she has felt less than and unworthy of love for many years since.

It has been a long road to healing for me. There’s still a long way to go. Sharing my story sheds a little more light in a very dark part inside of me. I am not chained to this experience, it doesn’t have to control my life. I am unafraid of the feedback anymore. This happened to me and it matters. I matter. And I am worthy of love.

Lady Gaga's performance also prompted actress Jaime King to open up about sexual abuse she experienced as a child. Hopefully keeping the conversation going will help shed more light on such a horrific and personal issue.

Kudos to Jade for bravely sharing her story, which could not have been easy.
