'Cruel Intentions' Is Coming to TV & I Can't Even

Nostalgia reboots seem to be all the rage these days for TV, so why not take one of the best teen drama movies of the '90s? Well, at least in this girl's opinion. NBC has ordered a pilot for a Cruel Intentions TV follow-up, more than 15 years after the movie hit the big screen in 1999.

It hasn't been cast yet, but we do have a basic tentative plotline. The drama will follow Bash Casey, the son of the late Sebastian Valmont and Annette Hargrove.

Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon went on to have two children after they finished filming, but who knew that their characters were expecting a kiddo too? Of course there was zero mention of it in the movie, but it's sort of the perfect plot twist to continue the coming-of-age story of spoiled rich kids.

Also rumored to be part of the story line is Sebastian's stepsister Kathryn Merteuil (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar in the movie), and she's just as evil as ever. Apparently, she'll be battling for control of Valmont International, and Bash's soul. Remember this witch?

I wonder if there's any chance Gellar would reprise her role? Maybe we should start a campaign.

Bash somehow uncovers his dad's not-so-G-rated past in a hidden journal, and is thrown into a world filled with greed, sex, money, power, and everything that should make for some really good TV. But the question is -- will he take after his bad boy dad, or his girl-next-door mom?

Either way, this is one show I'm completely looking forward to. I'm thinking Gossip Girl meets Dirty Sexy Money, with a good dose of Cruel Intentions nostalgia thrown in. Here's to hoping they get the casting right, because it's going to be hard to live up to the movie.
