What 10 Unforgettable 'Real World' Alums Are Doing Now (PHOTOS)

The Real World may have been one of TV's first reality shows, but it sure produced some real characters. Even though the show's 30 seasons have featured more than 200 people, some cast members' larger-than-life personalities and can-you-believe-that-just-happened behavior have made them live in viewers' memories long after they left the show — and sometimes not in a good way.

Where are they now? Click through to find out what happened when the most memorable Real World alums stopped being taped and started really getting real.

The Australian model livened up the show's first season filmed outside the United States, in 1995, by streaking, prank-calling strangers, adopting a pup that wasn't housebroken, and pinching random men's butts on the London Underground. Her stunning looks didn't hurt her popularity either.

Ms. Mischief is now more famous for her serious side. The model-turned-actress has starred in multiple movies, including The Human Stain, The Namesake, and Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason. Barrett is married to actor Gabriel Macht and they have two children.

  • Then: Danny Roberts, New Orleans

Roberts was one of the few openly gay people on TV in 2000 when he appeared on The Real World: New Orleans. The handsome Southerner was comfortable in his own skin and dated a U.S. Army officer whose face was blurred on camera because of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy. Neil Patrick Harris, who came out in 2006, has said Roberts was an inspiration to him.

Since leaving New Orleans, Roberts has mostly stayed out of the spotlight, except for a stint on The Challenge and acting in a few episodes of DTLA. Now a recruiter, Roberts last popped up in 2013 on Watch What Happens Live with his former castmates.

Rainey's bad-boy antics have yet to be topped. The obnoxious bike messenger with questionable hygiene clashed early and often with his roommates, especially HIV-positive Pedro Zamora. They evicted Rainey in episode 11 of the 1994 season.

Rainey's had several run-ins with the law, including doing time for stalking in 2012 and facing domestic violence charges in 2011 and 2013. The ex-con may have changed his ways, however. Rainey recently joined former castmate Rachel Campos-Duffy in Washington, D.C., for the launch of a program for ovarian cancer.

  • Then: Tami Roman, Los Angeles

On the Real World: Los Angeles in 1992, Roman, then Tami Akbar, had an abortion, sang with her R&B group, and went on the dating show Studs. She also evicted roommate David Edwards after he pulled back her blanket and revealed her underwear-clad body to the cameras.

In the first episode of The Real World: Hawaii, Alcaide drank herself unconscious and wound up in the hospital. That troubling start was soon followed by her driving drunk, shattering a glass, and giving a drunken lap dance to her boss's wife. Her roommates eventually gave Alcaide an ultimatum — go to an alcohol treatment program or get evicted.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas — unless you're on The Real World. That didn't stop Cannatella. The racy roommate kicked off the show's 2002 season by having sex in the second episode and a threesome in the third. A pregnancy scare followed midseason.

Mizanin is a WWE superstar nicknamed "The Awesome One," with multiple championships under his (title) belt and even commentator credits to his name. The Miz has also dabbled in traditional acting, including 2015's Santa's Little Helper. He is married to fellow WWE star Maryse Ouellet Mizanin.

  • Then: Irene McGee, Seattle

McGee was the first cast member to willingly leave the show early, and the only one who got "the slap heard round the world" on her way out. The quirky brunette was known for telling it like it was during The Real World: Seattle, including telling roommate Stephen Williams he was a homosexual as she was leaving the house, resulting in the slap. McGee left the 1998 show in part because she was suffering from Lyme disease.

Duffy traded his Real World digs for a more prestigious residence. The Wisconsin native has been a member of the U.S. House of Representatives since 2011. It's also a good thing he practiced living with a lot of roommates. He and his wife, Real World: San Francisco alum Rachel Campos-Duffy, have seven children.

  • Then: Judd Winick, San Francisco

Winick spent much of 1994's The Real World: San Francisco looking for love in all the wrong places. Fans rooted for the super likable animator and cartoonist, who became close with roommates Pam Ling, a medical student, and Pedro Zamora, an HIV-positive AIDs educator.

Winick has carried on Zamora's legacy of educating people about AIDS. The talented illustrator's other accomplishments include publishing three graphic novels and creating his own animated TV show for the Cartoon Network. He and Ling have two children.
