(1989-present) Ay caramba! This animated series is the longest-running scripted show in television history. Who could have ever predicted that this crudely drawn dysfunctional family could stay together so long?

  • 9. Mad Men

(2007-2015) We can't believe it's over! The AMC smash hit nearly didn't happen, according to creator Matthew Weiner, since the cable network was new to the game. But it surpassed all expectations, and even made Jon Hamm's junk famous.

(1951-1957) Do you poop out at parties? Are you unpopular? All you need is a spoonful of Vitameatavegamin! Or an episode or two of this classic sitcom.

(1975-present) Believe it or not, SNL has been around for 40 years. It has also brought us the likes of Tina Fey, Will Ferrell, and Robert Downey Jr. Just think -- without SNL, we could be living in a universe without Buddy the elf, Mean Girls, or Iron Man. On Wednesdays we wear pink, and on Saturdays we watch SNL.

(1999-2007) This HBO hit about a man trying to juggle his family life with his role as a mob boss was bound to keep us on the edge of our seats. And maybe minimize our own problematic lives just a little. So what if you're out of milk? Worrying about getting whacked isn't something most of us have to worry about.

  • 5. Seinfeld

(1989-1998) The show that was famously "about nothing" brought us the Soup Nazi, the term "sponge-worthy," and the reason Junior Mints are banned from operating rooms.

(2011-present) The biggest hit in HBO history has us coming back season after season even as all of our favorite characters are brutally murdered off. Personally, I started watching this after my nasty divorce, and it was oddly cathartic. Just saying.

  • 3. The X-Files

(1993-2002) Scully and Mulder forever! Good news for X-Files fans -- after a 13 year hiatus, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are coming back for more. They're currently filming a six-episode miniseries, to be premiered on FOX in the hopefully not too distant future.

(2008-2013) Did you know that HBO, Showtime, and FX all passed on this dark drama about a high school chemistry teacher turned meth dealer? Creator Vince Gilligan said he even considered sending it to the Food Network before AMC ultimately picked it up. "It's a show about cooking, after all," he lamented.

(1994-2004) They'll be there for you! More than a decade after coming off the air, we still can't get enough of Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler, Joey, and Ross. Could there be a better TV show in history? I think not.
