Bravo May Be Adding First Transgender Cast Member to 'Real Housewives' Franchise

Real Housewives of Atlanta CastThings are definitely shaking up in the Peach State. With news NeNe Leakes is leaving Real Housewives of Atlanta, it seems Bravo might just have an ace up their sleeve. According to reports, the network plans to bring on Amiyah Scott as the first transgender cast member in Housewives history.

It's OK if you're a little sad Laverne Cox won't be the first (she's too busy giving us life on Orange Is the New Black), but Amiyah doesn't look to be a bad choice. The self-proclaimed mermaid and weaveologist is also a model and beauty consultant. Judging by her Instagram pictures, it looks like Amiyah will give Ms. Kenya Moore a run for her money in the Gone With the Wind fabulous department.

The 27-year-old reportedly transitioned 10 years ago and hasn't looked back ever since. Bravo has yet to confirm reports Amiyah is officially joining the cast.

For now, we'll have to wait and see how all of this plays out. With NeNe Leakes and newcomer Claudia Jordan gone, that leaves a few spots open for more cast members. Amiyah's presence would not only be groundbreaking but it's possibly the shake-up the franchise needs. After all, there's just so many seasons we can continue listening to past drama about who almost but maybe didn't sleep with someone's husband, and who's dating an imaginary "African prince."

What do you think about Bravo adding a transgender cast member?
