Kim Richards's Former 'Real Housewives' Cast Members Open Up About Her 'Sad Situation'

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Cast

It's been a sad series of unfortunate events you couldn't script for reality television. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards has been in the headlines for her struggle with sobriety and odd behavior. Now her former castmates are speaking out about Kim's very public battle.

"I think her sobriety is more important than any reality show," former co-star Lisa Vanderpump told Us Weekly at a recent event. "And I think a lot of people recognize that fact and that's probably why she's not in this season."

And, while Lisa hasn't spoken to Kim recently, she calls the former reality star's struggle a "sad situation."

News broke earlier this summer that Kim Richards would not return to the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as the 50-year-old former child star cannot seem to clean herself up. She was arrested back in April for public intoxication that led to three misdemeanor charges -- including battery on a cop and resisting arrest. Checking herself into rehab soon after, most in her corner hoped Kim would get the help she needed.

Sadly, more odd behavior has surfaced over the past few months that included antics at her daughter's wedding and then the situation at Target, where she was arrested for shoplifting -- just after celebrating one month of sobriety -- and then reportedly hospitalized for a brief stint.

"My thoughts and prayers are with her and I support her and I just want her to know I'm here for her if she needs anything," said Camille Grammer, a former castmate who makes frequent appearances throughout the series.

You don't have to care about reality television to know how much something like this can affect a family. Kim and her sister Kyle (also on the show) have in many ways been unable to mend their relationship. "Obviously sisters have issues, but it's a completely different situation when it's played out in front of the camera," Kyle told the ladies on The Real. It's her hope that time and therapy to can unite the once close siblings.

Just a week ago, Kyle posted this touching quote on Instagram that most would assume is about her sister Kim.

Hopefully time away from the cameras will give Kim Richards the room she needs to really work on her sobriety and mend family relationships.
