Kim Richards Arrested for Shoplifting From Target -- Is It a Cry for Help?

This is probably not the week she envisioned for herself. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards was arrested for allegedly trying to steal $600 worth of merchandise from a Los Angeles–area Target.

Kim, who has struggled with substance abuse for the greater part of her life, was placed under citizen's arrest on Sunday and then incarcerated for the night before being released on $5,000 bail on Monday, reports Us Weekly.

The former child star also found herself on the wrong side of the law in April when she was arrested on charges of public intoxication, battery, and resisting arrest at the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel.

The incident landed Kim back in rehab, which she admits was exactly what she needed at the time.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight she said:

I went in and I got to learn a whole lot about myself. I dug deep into my past, things that happened to me as a child, good and bad, teenage years, relationships with all my loved ones, where they need to be mended, where they're very powerful. I worked on me.

Her ex-husband Monty Brinson thinks that her latest arrest was not a result of old issues coming back to haunt her, telling Entertainment Tonight that it must have been a misunderstanding.

I couldn't imagine Kim stealing or shoplifting anything. She is a giver. I am in complete shock. Guaranteed this must be some kind of mistake, and the facts will come out soon. She was arrested for shoplifting toys in a cart, but this was a clear misunderstanding. This was not alcohol or drug related.

But it makes me wonder if this shoplifting incident is yet another cry for help on Kim's part. I feel badly for the reality star who can't seem to find peace. Kim has always come across as a lost soul on the show and she's someone I truly wish could find happiness in some way, shape, or form. I think she's well-intentioned, just extremely troubled.

Here's hoping Kim gets whatever help she needs.
