Yes, Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff broke up and released one of those expected statements saying they still have "nothing but respect and admiration for one another" and they they are remaining "supportive friends." No break-up is this tidy especially considering that just three weeks ago, Whit posted a sweet "throwback" photo of the moment Chris proposed. Still, we saw this coming -- the signs were all there which reveal the heartbreaking and juicy details of why their relationship is over.

Two months ago, People magazine interviewed with Chris and Whit about their love and all signs pointed to the fact that they may not be able to make this work for the Trista and Ryan kind of long haul.

Chris talked about how he was "falling in love with both of them at the same time" -- meaning Whitney and the other finalist, Becca Tilley. But Soules choose Whit because he used "logic." Logic? How humdrum. When it comes to love, I don't think logic should be a decision maker. He may have made the wrong decision.

The pair has also been dodging questions about when they were going to live in the same state. It's hard to make things work when one is in Chicago and the other in Iowa. Makes you wonder if they even thought this through properly. They said they were soul mates -- why wouldn't they want to live together?! Whit knew Chris wasn't leaving his farm in Iowa -- what was she thinking?!

But perhaps the biggest deal breaker was that Chris has said on more than one occasion that he wants a family, and a wife who was going to stay home with the kids. He's mentioned his three older sister who all were "lucky enough to be stay-at-home mothers." Whit seemed a little more career focused and not just ready to settle down and have a family. Chris did say that moms "can always go back to your career. Stay-at-home dads, too, though that is something I don't plan on being." I can see that not sitting so well with Whit.

Break-ups are heartbreaking -- even this one, even though many of us suspected it wouldn't last. We were all still rooting for them. But it's good they figured it out that it wasn't going to work out sooner than be together for a long time only to have it end. I wonder if Chris is happy being a bachelor again ... or is he thinking about Becca?
