'Bachelor' Nation's First LGBTQ Couple Demi Burnett & Kristian Haggerty Are Officially Over
Yet another Bachelor in Paradise couple bites the dust! Hot on the heels of John Paul Jones and Tayshia Adams' split, it looks like Demi Burnett and Kristian Haggerty are dunzo too. Demi and Kristian announced their breakup Thursday in a joint statement on Instagram, and it sounds as if they were able to end things on good terms ... not that it makes it any less sad that they're over.
Demi and Kristian posted identical statements at the same time on Insta, and it's pretty heartbreaking to read.
Apparently, nothing went seriously wrong -- it sounds as if they just figured out that right now, being engaged isn't the right choice for them.
"With a heavy heart full of love for one another we have decided it is best for us to take a step back from our relationship," they wrote. "We ultimately want what is best for us in the long run and for us right now, that means being apart and growing individually."
Well, that sucks. Especially considering that Demi and Kristian were the first lesbian Bach couple, it's sad to hear they didn't work out -- but at least their relationship broke that barrier for the franchise.
They went on to say that they appreciate everyone's support, and that they hope their relationship will have a bigger impact.
"We hope it shows that two people can love one another in different ways and for us right now that is apart," the statement continued. "But we remain committed to encouraging each other, supporting each other and continuing forward in a way best for us."
Ugh. That just gets us right in the feelings.
We're glad Demi & Kristian are doing what's best for them, but we're sad to see it's over.
Hopefully, this will allow both of them to find the right person, even if that has to happen without Chris Harrison's help.
Their relationship was definitely a huge deal for the show, and now, we get to see what's next for both of these ladies. Wishing them all the best!
