Honey Boo Boo's Mom May Sue TLC Over Duggar Molestation Scandal

To no one's complete surprise, Mama June Shannon went to TMZ this morning and managed to flip the Josh Duggar sexual abuse scandal to be about her. In a surprisingly coherent statement, June said she thinks TLC is issuing "blatantly unfair and inconsistent treatment" for not cutting 19 Kids, though her own show was cancelled within hours of her own scandal surfacing.

She talked to TMZ about her thoughts, but she also took to Twitter. This is what she said:

Last October, TLC canceled Here Comes Honey Boo Boo just one day after seeing photos that made it seem like Mama June was dating a convicted child molester (who sexually abused her daughter) again. Mama June seems to think that the Duggar family scandal is way worse than hers.

But is it?

If she was actually dating him at the time (it's not confirmed), Mama June made the very deliberate choice to bring Mark McDaniel back into her home -- a man who went to jail for 10 years for forcing oral sex on June's then 8-year-old daughter, Anna Cardwell.

The Duggars, on the other hand, were at the time looking at their 14-year-old son who admitted to molesting his sisters. They dealt with it by putting every involved into therapy and sending Josh to hammer out his issues with some good, old fashioned manual labor. Then they didn't talk about it for thirteen years ... that is, until Josh formally confessed and apologized when the whole scandal was exposed.

Okay, so which is worse? Mama June's probably, because of the choices she made, though she's arguing that she never brough McDaniel on her show and Josh is a central figure on 19 Kids (which is true). She also believes that Jim Bob and Michelle covered the scandal up until they couldn't anymore.

BUT. It doesn't matter. TLC should cancel 19 Kids ... and not because this scandal was "worse" than Mama June's. That's not the point. They should cancel it because Josh Duggar abused five girls, four of whom were his sisters, and TLC shouldn't be celebrating him or endorsing that in any way ... no matter how much talk of "forgiveness" floats around.

Will they cancel the show? Probably not. They took a financial hit cancelling Honey Boo Boo last year, and there's no doubt that 19 Kids is more lucrative for them anyways. Also, you could argue that Josh was never convicted (though he probably should have been) and he and the family did apologize.

If they do choose to keep the show, this isn't something that can be ignored. They'll have to talk about it and we want to see more proof that the girls actually forgive Josh, instead of just saying that for publicity reasons. Is that wishful thinking? Yeah, most likely. Sigh.

Do you think Mama June has a point -- was the Duggar scandal worse than hers?
