Jim Bob Duggar Reveals the Truth About the Petition to Cancel '19 Kids & Counting'

Jim Bob Duggar, Michelle DuggarThe Duggars may be one of the most famous families in America right now, but fame doesn't come without its fair share of haters. And since the 19 Kids and Counting stars are traditionally Christian and therefore opposed to gay marriage, you can bet your bottom dollar that the mainstream LGBT community has a problem with them. In fact, someone even started a petition at Change.org to get the family off the air. But now, patriarch Jim Bob Duggar has come out and revealed the truth of what that petition has actually done.

The petition that wanted to cancel the massively popular reality show about the massively large brood claimed that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar were "using their fame to promote discrimination, hate, and fear-mongering against gays and transgendered people."

So far, it has received over 180,000 signatures. But Jim Bob says that it's only added to the show's popularity and fanbase. He recently shared with the Booster Banquet at Hannibal-LaGrange University, "They won't succeed ... our show is the #1 show on TLC. It's a small group creating this fuss. All it has done is give us more exposure."

He even said that the "fuss" has created a boost of 50,000 "likes" on the family's Facebook page in the week following the petition. Jim Bob said, "God is expanding our borders through the national media."

More from The Stir: Duggar Fans Won't Let '19 Kids & Counting' Be Canceled Without a Fight

When confronted by the accusations that the Duggar family was promoting fear and hate of the LGBT community, Jim Bob responded simply with, "We love everybody, but we don't always agree with them."

You know what? Agree with them or not, you have to respect the Duggars for sticking to their principles and not conforming their beliefs to popular opinion -- even when it ostracizes them. They have done nothing other than stand firm in their belief that marriage should be between one man and one woman, and no matter what anyone says, that's their right to believe.

Do you think 19 Kids and Counting might be cancelled due to backlash from the LGBT community?
