'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Recap: Yolanda Foster's Tears Touch Moms Everywhere

Yolanda FOster

Oy. Yolanda Foster's tears on tonight's episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills? Totally. Heartbreaking. I can't imagine how terrifying it must have been to get a call saying that my teenage daughter has gotten a DUI. That's awful, terrifying, sad news -- and to get it while you're halfway across the country like Yolanda was?! That's even worse! A lot of other Housewives are hard to have empathy for, but Yolanda is so earnest, especially when it comes to her love for her girls. Watching her get the call while yachting with Kyle Richards and her family was totally gut-wrenching.

As if in a bit of grim foreshadowing (or, you know, very clever editing), Yolanda spent most of the episode discussing her mother's failing health, how awful it was to lose her father (IN A CAR ACCIDENT) when she was young, and then connecting with Kyle over how hard it is to watch your daughters grow up and go away to college.

Yolanda has always seen so much of herself in her kids, like any mom does. In fact, on tonight's episode, she reflected on how her kids were the best parts of herself ... just seconds before getting a call that her daughter Bella had been arrested for a DUI. Of course her first question was "is Bella okay," and it sounds like she is. After that, Yolanda's thoughts and feelings were all over the place.

Yolanda had a bit of a meltdown and did her best to keep it private -- yeah, like that's really possible on a boat. Because Yolanda was feeling a complicated amount of guilt and fear, she couldn't feel 100 percent pissed at her daughter. That means I can take on that rage for her -- BELLA WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? Drink, by all means -- drink! I'm doing it right now (almond-flavored sparkling wine -- it's worse than it sounds). But never, ever, ever get behind the wheel of a car. This is something Yolanda and all parents work diligently to teach their kids. Yolanda ended the episode anxious to get home and get to the bottom of this. I just wanted to give her a hug and help give her the strength she needs to sort out her kid!

What would you do if your child got a DUI?
