19 Times the Kardashians Faced Some Serious Backlash

Drama: It's not unfamiliar to the Kardashian-Jenner family. From Keeping Up With the Kardashians to social media exploits, they just can't seem to stay out of the spotlight -- for better or worse. The past year has been pretty packed with family feuds and scandals. Everything from people picking sides when it came to the Tristan Thompson and Jordyn Woods sitch, to the abundance of mommy-shaming when it comes to how the girls go about parenting has created a whirlwind of stress for pretty much everyone involved.

Fans can lift someone up -- but just as easily, tear someone down.

Most of the attacks aren't really from tabloids -- or even paparazzi. The digital age has come with a ton of blessings, but many curses. The good thing is that anyone -- celebs included -- can go online to get validation from supporters and fans. The bad thing is that Cancel Culture is pretty much all the rage, and if one wrong move is made, it's bad news for whoever's on the receiving end. Is all publicity truly "good" publicity?

Some would say so. Because the Kardashian clan rakes in a good portion of their money from Instagram sponsorships and the like, all eyes are usually on them -- which makes it even harder to not screw things up. Although it's possible that some people can make a good point about said screwups, how much of it is just bullying? How much of it is valid?

Whatever the scandal, here are a few times the Kardashian-Jenners were in hot water.

Wal-nuts

Twitter tore Kylie to shreds just a few months ago for the release of her walnut skin scrub routine, with dermatologists calling it "dangerous" and "harmful" for the skin. Harsh exfoliants = "micro tears." Ouch!

#KimOhNo

Kim launched a shape-wear product which she attempted to name Kimono. However, naming a piece of underwear after a traditional, important part of Japanese culture/clothing? Yeah, not the best decision. The Japanese government even looked into trademark laws for this one. But no big -- Kim politely apologized and rebranded to Skims.

Fat Shaming?

It's natural to say bad things when heated. The same is true for Khloe Kardashian, who -- in the midst of the Jordyn-Tristan drama -- yelled that they were both "fat a--holes." This brought in a lot of rage media outlets who criticized Khlo for the comment, considering how often Khloe preaches "body positivity." Not a good look!

Like Mother Like Daughter

Sane people agree that it's not OK to hit kids, but KUWTK fans were also quick to point Penelope's behavior at Kourtney, who used to "slap" her nannies across the face. Some serious accusations about Kourtney's parenting methods ensued.

5/19

A Handmaid's Rager?

Throwing a themed party for the premiere of a show sounds like innocent fun, but considering the sexually violent and misogynistic, dystopian themes of A Handmaid's Tale, media outlets and fans were not fine with Kylie's tone-deaf, show-themed party. It unfortunately read as a romanticization of the oppression of women. Whoops!

6/19

"Skinny" Love

Yeah, when a family member expresses genuine concern over health issues and the reaction is to take it as a compliment, that's not healthy. People were not happy with Kim's glee over Kendall's concerns. Another day, another romanticization of eating disorders.

7/19

Good American?

Khloe posted this innocent tweet on 9/11, praising her heritage. However, people saw this as an inappropriate slight toward a very "American" day. It's kind of ironic to be called "anti-american" with a brand like Good American.

8/19

Meal Replacements

The Kardashians love advertising things like weight-loss teas and other products by the controversial Flat Tummy Co., but Kourtney and Kim in particular got dragged this year for it. It's 2019; we can stop "replacing meals" now.

9/19

Faulty Face Wash

Here's a video of Kylie promoting another KylieSkin product, but fans noticed something was off. Why would someone need to wear foundation and slap on a filter if they wanted to prove how well a facial product worked?

10/19

Pepsi Peace

We didn't forget about the infamous Kendall Jenner Pepsi fiasco. (Who could?) According to Kendall, police brutality stops if cops get handed a Pepsi. Who knew?

11/19

Kim in the House

People weren't cool with Kim's White House visit for a number of reasons. 1) Some took it as her aligning herself with Trump. 2) Some thought it was inappropriate of her to be sprawled out on what might have been a White House table. We all know Kim is a Hillary supporter, though, and there are worse things being desecrated in the White House right now. Like our rights, for example.

Photoshopping Pics

The Kardashians are no strangers to Photoshop, but the most recent Photoshopping allegation was Khloe-centric. The comments on this photo were so bad, she had to turn them off entirely.

Poosh Problems

There's always something to be wary about when it comes to lifestyle brands promoted by insanely rich people. That's why some weren't happy with Poosh and Kourtney's luxurious lifestyle guide. A bit out of touch for the public.

14/19

Car Troubles

Kylie isn't just famous for makeup -- she also likes to collect bougie cars. However, fans have had enough of her overly opulent lifestyle. The newest Bugatti Chiron she treated herself to caused so much backlash that she had to delete the video where she showed it off.

15/19

The R-Word

Kim's Halloween costume may have looked on point, but when not as many people recognized her as she thought they would, she remarked that it was "r-tarded" in a deleted video. Since then she's apologized (thankfully).

Staying True

Where would a backlash compilation be without some ridiculous mommy-shaming? Khloe couldn't escape the haters when she attended a charity event hosted by City of Hope (a cancer research organization). Why the hate? Because she didn't bring True. SMH. Thankfully, Khlo clapped back with the fact that Tristan had been watching her (obviously).

17/19

Laughed At

When Kim made a statement about the Kardashians knowing that "truly compelling television comes from real people just being themselves." She and Kendall were met with laughs -- and the audience clearly wasn't laughing with them. Zoinks.

18/19

Baby Bods

Implying that babies should be concerned with counting calories, even jokingly, set fans off at Khloe. No diet shakes in those bottles!

Matrimony Milions

Finally, a #TBT. There's nothing people loved more than attacking Kim for her 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries. Not for the marriage, but for the $10 million dollar wedding that could have been used for ... anything else?
