'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' Cancelled After Child Molestation Scandal

here comes honey boo boo mama june alana thompsonWhat started as a hilarious clip on Toddlers & Tiaras and later escalated into a full-on prime time show has officially come to an end. Just one day after revealing Mama June Shannon may be dating a child molester, TMZ is now reporting that TLC has cancelled Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.

Say goodbye to the lovable plus-sized ragtag crew, because the only way you'll be able to see Alana and the family now is on reruns.

The entire saga started just yesterday, when TMZ ran a story that Mama June is seeing 53-year-old Mark McDaniel, who served 10 years in jail for sexually assaulting one of June's relatives and, in 2004, was convicted of aggravated child molestation for "forcing oral sex on an 8-year-old child.”

Later in the day, Mama June's second-oldest daughter, Lauren "Pumpkin" Shannon, came out in her mom's defense and said that the story is entirely untrue. TLC instead believed that the matriarch was putting the family in danger and, after "reassessing the future of the series," decided to can the whole show altogether.

But get this: TMZ is also reporting that the network had shot an entire new season that was due to air in the coming months. Now that unseen season will go into the TLC vault, never to be seen.

But luckily, the family isn't entirely abandoned. The site also quotes the network as saying: "Supporting the health and welfare of these remarkable children is our only priority. TLC is faithfully committed to the children's ongoing comfort and well-being." On top of that, they will continue to provide tutors and counselors for the girls, even after production has ended.

Wow. The entire story that has unfolded in the past 24 hours has completely rocked the TLC show.

Since the show's premiere in 2012, the family has embraced its redneck reputation and has largely come to be known as a loving, if not crazy, group of misfits.

It's sad to see them go down after a scandal like this. It really is the end of one seriously 'sketti'-filled era.

Do you think TLC was right for cancelling the show?
