If the last season of The Real Housewives of New York left you less than impressed, get ready to get addicted once again. One of the original, catty divas is returning to the show. Bethenny Frankel will rejoin the snarky, backstabbing bitch-fest. Surprised? You shouldn't be. There is a good reason the show's breakout star needs to get back in the fray.

Her dreams of daytime talk show stardom crashed and burned a few months ago. Her self-titled talk show was cancelled in February. And though she was rumored to be up for a co-hosting spot in the newly revamped The View, that didn't happen. So what's a former reality TV star to do? Save the struggling series that launched her career, of course.

By all accounts, season 6 of RHONY was a major disappointment. So producers reportedly hope the fiery chef can boost ratings, which fell to 1 million from 2.6 million. Basically, it's a last-ditch effort, according to a source. So what's she getting out of the deal? Now that her own TV venture has gone bust, she is focusing on making sure her Skinnygirl empire is at the top of its game. The company is hawking everything from cocktails to snacks to shapewear to books. The exposure of the show will bring the line some much needed press.

Plus, it will allow Bethenny to focus on something other than that messy divorce from husband Jason Hoppy. The happiness she imbued on her spin-off Bethenny Getting Married and Bethenny Ever After was short-lived. Now she is locked in a bitter and nasty legal battle. It will be interesting to see how she melds back into her old stomping ground now that all of the other originals (Jill Zarin, Ramona Singer, LuAnn de Lesseps) are no longer regulars. Guess she'll have to ignite new feuds.

Are you glad Bethenny is back?
