'Dancing With the Stars' Adds Julianne Hough as New Judge

Julianne Hough

Stop the presses, people! TMZ is reporting that Dancing With the Stars will have a new judge on Season 19, and while it's a familiar face, it's definitely not the person I would've put in the driver's seat.

Drum roll, please ...

Julianne Hough will be joining Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli this time around, so we'll have the pleasure of hearing the contestants critiqued by four pros instead of three.

And I guess we really shouldn't be all that surprised that Julianne got the job, you know, because she's been featured as a guest judge on DWTS a couple of times now.

But something tells me I'm not alone in saying that while Julianne is a good choice, there's definitely one person who would've been a hell of a lot better.

Duh. Maksim Chmerkovskiy!

OMG. Even though he insisted that Season 18 was the last time he'd compete on DWTS, I was still holding out hope that he'd come back to the show, but would be seated at the judges' table as opposed to taking the ballroom floor.

Aside from the eye candy factor, he would have brought an edge to the group that's missing, which Julianne simply won't be able to do. Sure, she's cute and sweet and all that good stuff, but I'm not sure she'll be taken seriously by the cast members unless she is brutally honest with her comments.

That being said, the addition of Julianne as a fourth judge does have me a little more excited for Season 19. Considering how long DWTS has been running, it can't hurt for them to switch things up a bit on the show to keep it interesting. Change is always a good thing, right?

Do you think Julianne will make a good judge?
