Chelsea Houska's Twitter Rant Happened for a Good Reason

Chelsea HouskaChelsea Houska is a good person and a GREAT mom. That's why it's so unfair to see the amount of backlash she got for how she handled her daughter Aubree's temper tantrum on the most recent episode of Teen Mom. Chelsea and Aubree get along absolutely splendidly, but remember, Aubree is just 4 years old. And what are 4-year-olds awesome at doing? Having total meltdowns.

Yeah, Chelsea might be Aubree's best friend 99.9 percent of the time, but that doesn't mean that even she is immune to the wrath of a little girl who has been overstimulated and is well overdue for some quiet time. In fact, it's a testimony to Chelsea's parenting that Aubree was able to let go in the way she did in front of her mommy on the show.

Chelsea shut down the tantrum by doing something a lot of other parents have done before her. She ignored it, removed Aubree from the situation, and took her home. Now she's catching flack for doing it? That's pretty ridiculous. But apparently folks feel she wasn't stern enough with Aubree or that she should have given her a sterner punishment.

Chelsea spoke up and explained her actions in a way that made a lot of sense. But she shouldn't have to! She's Aubree's mom. How she chooses to parent is her business. By the same token, the only part of her tweet that bummed me out was her explaining that she doesn't implement as much discipline in front of the cameras -- but she knows people will criticize her for it. It's a case of damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

Do you think Chelsea handled Aubree's tantrum well?
