'Walking Dead' Sneak Peek Shows Terrifying Chaos After Last Week's Death (VIDEO)

Walking DeadAfter last week's Walking Dead premiere, I think it's safe to say we were all left with one burning question: WHAT HAPPENED AT THE END THERE? I mean, I guess it was obvious what happened, but why did it happen? How did it happen? What does it mean for the camp? Was it related to the pig, the deer outside of the prison, and/or the bloody-eyed zombie at the fence?

The October 20th episode is titled "Infected," and here's the description: "As the group faces a brand new enemy, Rick and the others must fight to protect the livelihood they worked so hard to create at the prison." Ah HA, here's that deadly new threat the cast and crew was hinting at all summer long, and it definitely sounds like tonight's show will expand on Patrick's dramatic (and surprisingly gooey) collapse in the shower.

Spoilers for last week's Walking Dead ahead!

Let's start with the sneak peek video for "Infected":

Okay, so one of my questions has already been answered: yes, they have more pigs. And they're so CUUUUUUTE! I shall name that one Oinky, and that one Snuffles, and … oh shut up, Rick, I can so name them if I want.

Also, previously-psycho Carl wants his gun back, because he's been trying real hard. But there's no time for Rick to smoothly change the subject to worms, because something bad is going on at the prison. Walkers in D! Probably from Patrick, who got real bitey after reanimating in the shower!

Here's what we know about that virus -- or whatever it is -- that Patrick succumbed to: creator/executive producer Robert Kirkman told Vulture,

It’s important to know that this is really just some form of the Spanish Flu. It’s something that exists in our everyday world now; it’s a time where there is no modern medicine. Scott Gimple, the new showrunner, really wanted to explore that new possibility of the simple things, the really little things, coming to devastate these people. That’s what we’re going to explore.

Special effects guru Greg Nicotero says we've got valid reason to worry about our favorite poncho-wearing varmint-killer:

At the end, when Patrick dies, you realize that this is not an isolated incident. [Rick’s] pig is dead, we see the walker at the fence … it’s a ticking time bomb. Now, all of a sudden, [the virus is] right in the middle of the prison. We set up some great beats. Norman set up a great beat when he licks his fingers then shakes Patrick’s hand. You look at it and go, ‘Wait a minute, Daryl licked his fingers and shook Patrick’s hand and now Patrick is [dead].’

ComicBook.com teases that there are BIG things coming in tonight's show that have long-term ramifications for the entire season:

There’s a B plot in this episode, too, and it’s one that’s far more intriguing than last week’s various romances. There’s an enemy within, to borrow a previous episode title, and it’s not clear who it is or to what end they’re acting–but if not for the generalized threat presented by the episode’s major development in Cell Block D, that sub-story could very well overtake the show. In fact, the stakes in the subplot become so high at one point in the episode that it’s clear they may be building not to having an A plot and a B plot throughout the season, but having two massive events taking place at the same time, presenting so much danger and driving so much story that it will give the season a sense of frenzy that was missing from the premiere.

So maybe a massive disease/walker outbreak, combined with a living person inside the prison who's a danger to the group? We'll just have to wait and see, but I'm officially on pins and needles for tonight's episode.

What do you think about these revelations about "Infected"? Are you looking forward to seeing it?
