Kailyn Lowry Is 'Teen Mom's Crunchiest Mama Yet

kailyn lowryTeen Mom's Kailyn Lowry is due to birth her baby any day now. So naturally, it's almost all she can talk about anymore. And going by what she's telling her fans, it sounds like she's going full-tilt natural mom. Kailyn is planning on breastfeeding, using cloth diapers, and eating her placenta. Hello, Earth Mama! Kailyn will be an amazing role model for countless other young moms who want to do the same. I hope she keeps sharing with her fans how it goes, because natural parenting can be challenging, sometimes.

I hope she has all her breastfeeding ducks in line. I think moms who want to breastfeed need to line up their support system before they give birth. That means everything from learning how it works to thinking through different scenarios (what about when you need to breastfeed in a public space, are you returning to work, etc.). You'll also need to make sure your husband or baby daddy is totally with the program, and that you have a few breastfeeding gurus who can help you learn the ropes.

And then, once you've prepared for the best, you have to prepare for the worst: What if you can't breastfeed? It's happened to so many moms who dearly wanted to breastfeed and were heartbroken when they couldn't. You'll need to be ready to be kind to yourself and accept that you tried your best. I think every expecting mom who wants to breastfeed needs to keep that possibility in the back of their minds.

Same goes for cloth diapering, too -- getting a plan before the baby arrives will help. But you also need to be prepared to be flexible and maybe change your plan later on to what really works. You just never know what's going to work until you're right there, in the moment!

I hope it all works out for Kailyn, though. I'm glad she's giving so much thought to how she wants to parent her baby. I think her fans will love hearing about life with baby number two.

Did you change your diaper or breastfeeding plan after your baby was born?
