‘Downton Abbey’ Season 4 Set Photos Give Us a Sneak Peek at What’s to Come

downton abbey matthews gravestoneToday I'm sneaking peeks at the filming of Downton Abbey's fourth season -- because I hate to wait! Looks like they've done some scenes in a graveyard for you-know-who. SIGH. Doesn't look like the actual funeral, but family and staff both are showing up, and all in black. I hear the series picks up about a month after Matthew's death, so everyone must still be in mourning. (AS ARE WE ALL.) Waaah! Here's a few photos along with my best guess at the plot points that go with them.

  • Proof That Matthew Is Well & Truly Dead

    1

Oh God, it's his gravestone. Matthew is really, really, really dead. They're not doing some fake-out scene where we find out that the crash was just a dream. Damn, those jerks.

  • Dr. Clarkson Hits on Colleen Again

    2

Remember in the season finale when Dr. Clarkson told Colleen, "Why don't we ..." and Colleen was all, "Yeah, let's just be friends." Well, it looks like he's hitting on her again -- already! I bet she shuts it down again. Let the poor woman mourn her dead son, Clarkson. Geez. Give her a couple of months at least.

  • Is Bates Stepping Out on Anna?

    3

I've seen a few photos of Bates checking out this gal here, and no, she's not Anna. Innocent chit-chat? Friend of Bates' former wife? Or is he flirting?!? I can't even imagine Bates doing a thing like that, but he is charming.

  • Rose Is SO Not Doing This 'Mourning' Thing

    4

Everyone's wearing black to this graveside scene -- except Lady Rose. I know she's not really related to Matthew, exactly. But she's living under the Crawleys' roof. So it would be nice manners for her to don the mourning black like everyone else clearly is! But Rose is too young and rebellious for such boring etiquette.

  • Is the Dowager Countess Next?

    5

The Dowager Countess is looking a little tired here, don't you think? I'm worried. Dame Maggie Smith was just telling the Today show, "She's gotta drop down dead at some point. Because [she] must be about 110, logically, in the thing. So I don't know what's going to happen." NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
