'Bachelor' Alums Rally Around 'Queer Queen' Demi Burnett After Hateful Messages Emerge
Bachelor Nation's favorite "queer queen" got some major applause this week when she officially outed herself as bisexual, but it seems as though not everyone thinks she should have the right to love whomever she wants to love. Demi Burnett shared a couple gross reactions she got online about coming out, and we can't believe people were so awful to her.
In case you missed it, Demi came out as "queer" this week during a preview for this summer's Bachelor in Paradise.
During the preview, she declares, "I don't care who sees this," and climbs on top of another woman. She then tells the camera, "I know that I love this girl. I'm just so happy that I found her, and I can definitely picture being with her for the rest of my life."
She confirmed the news on Twitter, declaring herself the "queer queen," and was met with tons of love and support.
However, you know there are always those people.
Demi shared a couple of terrible responses she got about coming out, and wasn't afraid to clap back. It should be noted that this person has a grand total of seven followers. It doesn't make what the person said less terrible, but it's nice to know that person is not influential on the web.
Demi also shared a screenshot from her DMs of someone attacking her for coming out as bisexual.
She was immediately defended by several other Bachelor alums, including Jason Tartick.
And Kaitlyn Bristowe.
And Chris Randone
Someone tracked down Caylee's employer, who DM'd Demi to say the situation has been dealt with.
Salon 7 had previously reported that Caylee's account had been hacked.
Since the exchanges, the Twitter account for Salon 7 has been completely scrubbed, and Caylee's has been deleted entirely, so it's hard to know what really happened, if someone did indeed get hacked, or if Salon 7 really did take action.
The good news about all of this is that it shows how supported Demi really is.
She got tens of thousands of positive replies this week after officially coming out of the closet. When even one person seemingly attacked her over it, her Bachelor peeps rallied around her and shut it down, and their replies got thousands more positive reactions from fans.
Yes, there are always going to be crappy people in the world, and even one is one too many. Thankfully there seem to be fewer and fewer every day.
