'Teen Mom' Kailyn Lowry Started Planning Her Wedding at the Perfect Time

kailyn lowryTeen Mom 2's Kailyn Lowry has been happily engaged to marry her BF Javi Marroquin since September, and while there were reports that the two may have already tied the knot, it sounds like in reality, they've only just begun to plan their wedding. The bride-to-be herself tweeted on Saturday, "Philly for some wedding planning with @Javim9!" Aw, fun!

No word yet on if they've yet to set the date, but they're at least getting the ball rolling! And their timing couldn't be more perfect.

In other words, taking some time to simply enjoy just being engaged, but then getting down to biznaz within a few months sounds absolutely perfect to me.

For years before I got engaged (maybe even before I was in a serious relationship!), I was of the mindset that there's really no point in putting a ring on it until you're ready to plan a wedding. Otherwise, you might be setting yourself up for a Brangelina style engagement, which could ultimately culminate in a wedding, sure, but might also be an excuse to drag the engagement on and on into infinity.

Of course there are certainly couples who are a-okay with being perpetually engaged -- like Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson, Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler --and having kiddos together well before there's even an utterance of wedding plans. Good for them! They're not letting anyone tell them how, when, or where they need to start planning or set the date.

But if one partner definitely wants to get the show on the road and the other doesn't, well, that can most definitely make for some hairy conversations. Whether you choose to be one of those forever-engaged pairs or a by-the-book planner, it's ultimately best to be on the same page and moving at the same pace.

As for these Teen Mom 2 lovebirds, it seems like they couldn't have struck a better balance. Can't wait to hear even more about their wedding as the details come together!

How long after you got engaged did you start planning your wedding -- or how long do you think is appropriate?
