‘Bachelorette’ Ali Fedotowsky Won’t Ever Move On if She & Ex Roberto Are Still ‘Close’

Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto MartinezIt's no secret that former contestants from The Bachelorette don't exactly have the best track record for staying with their main men. Aside from Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum, the last seven seasons of the show led to broken engagements and heartbreak. All may not be lost for season six's Bachelorette, Ali Fedotowsky, though, who spoke with Wetpaint about about hanging out with her hunky ex Roberto Martinez at Ashley and J.P.'s wedding.

"It was great, he's a great guy. We're good friends," Ali said. "We just had a good time. We're close ... I'm glad that we have that."

Hmmm, I see all that mumbo jumbo and think one thing: She still totally has feelings for him. Yeah, they're "close," but I can't help but ask the age old question: Is it possible to be just friends with an ex, and stay that way?

Inside my heart of hearts, I want to say that yes it is possible. Sometimes breakups are mutual. Maybe you're both just in different places in your life and, because of that, you can't be together. I have friends who talk to their exes on a regular basis, things are completely platonic, and both parties have moved on to other things (and other people).

The truth is, though, if there has ever been feelings between two people -- it's always possible that those same kind of intense emotions can come back, and with a vengeance. It's up to you to decide whether or not keeping that door of communication between you and an ex is a good idea. Are you dating someone new? How do they feel about you guys being in contact?

Think about the bigger picture here and what is best for you. Sure, the feelings may not be the same, but if you're allowing that person to fill a void when it's not their place anymore, you may just get hurt in the long run even though the actual relationship is already over. Moving on is always hard, but it's harder if you leave that door open.

Do you think Ali and Roberto are just friends? Are you good friends with any of your exes?
