‘Teen Mom’ Leah Messer’s Wedding Was No Better Than Kim Kardashian’s

leah messerTeen Mom Leah Messer really wanted to be teen bride Leah Messer, which is why, she says, she and Corey Simms rushed into marriage. After having twin girls together, the couple thought they'd make things perfect by rounding out their kids with a house, and a marriage. But, it didn't work out that way. After six months of wedded non-bliss, Leah filed for divorce. Now, she's talking about what caused the riff. On a Teen Mom 2 after-show, Leah explains that it wasn't the cheating, nor the bank-account plundering, that made them end their relationship.

Orly, Leah? Then what was it??

I do think we rushed into the marriage quickly. We just wanted the family, like husband and wife, and the kids. Both of us knew that we shouldn't have got married, because we were both doing things that we shouldn't have been doing at the time. Right a week before we got married. But it was like, we're gonna do it anyway.

Either Leah is your typical idiotic 18-year-old (because we're all pretty freaking stupid at that age) or she's a cold-hearted, manipulative, business woman.

Leah's wedding brought her a lot of attention, not only on the show, but from magazines and blogs, as well. She got paid for stories and photos. She was likely able to make a profit from her wedding. And since you can't really get any repeat business on a wedding (it's supposed to be a one-time thing, after all), you have to get a divorce to start the cycle all over again.

Her story line on the show is more complicated and therefore more interesting now that she's navigating the end of a marriage. She can sell more stories to magazines about her divorce drama. She's able, once again, to reap financial benefits from her histrionic life choices.

Sound familiar?

Kim Kardashian blazed this trail when her wedding to Kris Humphries netted her a reported $18 million. After the divorce, Keeping Up With the Kardashians has had some of its highest ratings to date. Now, people can't get enough of her new relationship with Kanye; plus, she got to sit down with Oprah. Cha ching, cha ching, cha ching.

Do I think Leah's smart enough or calculating enough to exploit her personal life for financial gain? Eh, don't think so. It doesn't matter, though, because whether she's doing it willingly or not, she's going to be laughing all the way to the bank.

What do you think?
