'Bachelorette' Ashley Hebert's Wedding Registry Provides a Perfect Opportunity to Judge

wedding registryOMG, could Bachelorette couple Ashley Hebert and JP Rosenbaum POSSIBLY be any cuter? It's almost nauseating. The latest is their wedding registry for their December nuptials. The list includes some standard kitchenware, but naturally, it also includes cash donations to four charities.

I am not sure whether to weep or puke. Seriously, they are SO perfect! Still, I feel sorry for them. The wedding registry may SEEM like a nice opportunity for wedding guests to find gifts for the couple that they actually want, but it's actually a chance for all of the guests to peek in on the couple's future and see who they will be as a couple and what kinds of people they are now.

Take Ashley and JP, for instance.

The registry COULD be a very sweet way of making sure the charities they love are well supported and funded. But one could also see it as something else -- a giant suck-up. It all depends on the person viewing's perspective. They see what they want to see.

One could also see Ashley and JP as foodies. After all, they want lobster forks (she is from Maine, after all!), crab claw crackers, a beautiful cake stand, and stainless steel bakeware.

Of course, when I got married 10 years ago, I got a lot of flak about my registry items from some people who complained I set my sights too high, that the Williams-Sonoma registry, replete with Mauviel copper pots, was somehow rude to even register.

Don't buy it then, I wanted to say! I also included many less expensive items and couldn't have cared less if people brought gifts at all as long as they came to the wedding.

I was so angry when people judged me, and yet here I am, judging Ashley and JP. Sigh. I guess we judge because we love. Or something.

You know, come to think of it, the whole concept is sort of rude. Hi guests! Here is a list of what you can buy me! Oh well, live and learn. One has to respect JP and Ashley for thinking of others and not just themselves, too. This bodes well for their union!

What was on your registry? Did people judge you?
