Ashton Kutcher Tops List of Highest Paid TV Actors & the List Needs a Reality Check

Ashton KutcherAfter the numbers were crunched, it's Ashton Kutcher who it seems reigns supreme when it comes to raking in the big bucks for appearing on our TV screens. The Two and a Half Men actor came in at the number one spot on Forbes' list of Highest Paid TV Actors, and you've got to wonder if Charlie Sheen (who didn't even make the list this year) is kicking himself right now.

According to the magazine, Kutcher earned an estimated $24 million between May 2011 and May 2012. We could debate all day whether he deserves that or not (NO!), but there he stands. Beside girlfriend Mila Kunis, recently named "Sexiest Woman Alive," they make quite a couple. Others on the list of rich TV guys include:

2. Hugh Laurie, $18 million
3. Ray Romano, $18 million
4. Alec Baldwin, $15 million
4. Mark Harmon, $15 million
6. Tim Allen, $14 million
7. Jon Cryer, $13 million
8. Patrick Dempsey, $12 million
9. Jim Parsons, $8 million
9. Johnny Galecki, $8 million
9. Jason Segel, $8 million

None are all that surprising, but what is surprising is how different the list is compared to the list of highest paid women in TV, which was released in July. The biggest difference is that there's not a single reality TV star on the men's side, while reality TV contributes some major players to the women's list.

Kim Kardashian came in at number two with earnings of $18 million. Bethenny Frankel, previously of The Real Housewives of New York, came in at number four with an estimated $12 million in earnings. And Khloe Kardashian Odom came in at number five with $11 million in earnings. That's almost 30 percent of the list.

So why the stark difference? I'm not sure. Maybe it's because women rule the reality show world, and men haven't quite found their niche there. Seems like there's definitely some room for them to step up their game. If only that Charlie Sheen reality show would ever happen, maybe he'd be able to get back on the list again.

Are you surprised that Ashton Kutcher is the highest paid TV actor? Do you think he should be?
