'Teen Mom' Amber Portwood Blames Money for Making Her Crazy

Amber PortwoodNow that Teen Mom star Amber Portwood has been sentenced to five years in prison, it's about high time that she took a good look at her life and where it all went wrong. And believe it or not, that's exactly what she's doing, and she even admitted that she thinks money is the root of all her troubles.

She said, "Getting money at a young age, going to parties where drugs were given to you, that's what really got me."

Huh. Sure sounds like she's realizing more and more that being famous & living your life on TV isn't exactly as glamorous as it sounds. (Especially when you land in prison for five years.)

But is fame and money truly what's responsible for Amber's downfall? Because last time I checked, giving in to peer pressure and making bad decisions isn't a direct result of being given a fat paycheck. I mean, I guess having extra cash on hand does make it easier to go out and party, which often leads to being exposed to things like drugs.

And then trying drugs leads to substance abuse, which leads to a whole host of mental health issues -- which are probably the real root of Amber's problems. It's definitely a vicious cycle that is tough to break once it begins. And unfortunately for Amber, she was unable to escape it.

As for her time in prison, Amber plans on cleaning up her act and getting her GED and said, "I'll be off the drugs, I'll have an education to get me a job, you have to think of the positives in this negative story."

It's great that she has such a bright outlook for her future, and we can only hope she keeps her chin up and sticks to her plan to better herself throughout her entire jail sentence. Old habits die hard, so it's crucial for her to be fully rehabilitated before she tries having a normal life again.

Do you think money & fame are responsible for Amber's problems?
